Fear. There are so many things we fear and so little we do to overcome them. Fear is great. Feel the fear and do it anyway, right? Wrong.
Fear is probably the greatest hurdle to our dreams, to the life we have always imagined for ourselves. Fear is lame. Fear is crippling our abilities. Fight the fear.
Fear. Fear of being alone. Fear of death. Fear of loss. Fear of mediocrity. Fear of wasting away our life.
But what fear really is, is a figment of our imagination. Our insecurities projected into the universe. Fear is a threat. To quote Will Smith, ‘ Fear is not real‘.
What fear really is, is strong. It always wins. It is overpowering you right now. Fear is our foe. In Yoda’s own words, ‘ Fear is the path to the dark side’.
There are millions of songs out there, singers who preach fear, who tell us that fear is okay, fear is normal. Hell, Fear of the Dark is my ringtone for God’s sake!
But what fear really is, is darkness in itself. Fear is strange and elusive. Fear creeps upon you at night. Fear keeps you awake. The Shawshank Redemption rightfully preaches, ‘ Fear can hold you prisoner..‘.
Fear is like the monarchy which refuses to die. Battles are constantly waged on our mind’s battlefields. They have and will be, for centuries to come. So what do we do?
How do we ultimately defeat Fear? Hail fear, hail the villain!
